In an era where most ride-hailing services are apparently men-dominated and where women's safety is sometimes undermined, Vsisters has launched a new ride-hailing app in Pakistan, which is exclusively for women.
Aiming to provide safer transport options for female commuters in Pakistan, Vsisters comes as the first platform of its kind in the country and ensures that both drivers and passengers are female.
While the service is currently only operational in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Lahore, it has plans to expand nationwide in the near future, according to ProPakistani.
Vsisters is available for download on the Google Play Store. The app's functionality is similar to existing platforms like Careem and InDrive, where users simply enter their destination and confirm their pickup point to connect with a female driver.
Before joining the platform, each driver undergoes a background check and safety training.
Vsisters offers three ride options in Pakistan: the Bike category for solo travellers at approximately Rs650, the Regular option for up to four passengers priced at Rs1,193, and the Luxury ride, which costs Rs2,200.
While Vsisters seems to be a safer option for women, a direct fare comparison showed that competitors like InDrive offer lower prices and more flexible options, including the margin to negotiate.
