WhatsApp today, announced a new feature that will let users save contacts within the app, so if you ever lose any contact which was saved in your primary contact number, it will be still stored in your contacts within WhatsApp’s cloud storage.
Until now, Meta-owned WhatsApp has been dependent on your primary contacts, so if an unknown person tries to contact you, their identity will be kept secret unless you don’t save their details on your primary contacts.
The latest feature will support WhatsApp web and Windows both, and it is all set to be launched soon. Additionally, users are also allowed to sync their contacts saved within the app to their phone.

According to WhatsApp, it has developed a new encrypted storage system known as Identity Proof Linked Storage (IPLS) to ensure security. Whenever you will save any contact, the automated system will generate an encryption key on your device.
Furthermore, WhatsApp has also collaborated with Cloudflare to sign any modifications to the cryptographic properties of a user’s directory that would assure you that someone has not edited the contacts saved on your account.
In a blog post, WhatsApp stated: “Usernames on WhatsApp will add an extra degree of privacy so that you don’t need to share your phone number when messaging someone.”
