WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will allow users to share motion photos in chats, groups, and channels. The latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.8.12 update, available on the Google Play Store, reveals that the company is developing tools to improve the media-sharing experience.

This new feature will let users send short animated images instead of just static photos, adding a dynamic touch to their messages.

WhatsApp motion photos

Motion photos capture a brief moment of movement before and after a picture is taken, similar to Live Photos on iPhones or Motion Photos on Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel devices. These animated images make it easier to relive special moments.

Motion pictures are different from regular photos, as they offer a few seconds of video with audio, unlike the latter's static nature.

Moreover, with this new feature, WhatsApp users will have the option to send a static image or the motion photo version when they share photos. There will be a new button in the gallery that will offer this option, and it will be easy to send animated photos. This feature is likely to be available in personal conversations, group discussions, and WhatsApp channels.

When will WhatsApp motion photos be available?

Motion photo sharing is currently in the works and is not yet available for beta testers. Nonetheless, when the feature is out, it will be released as part of a future WhatsApp update.

WhatsApp keeps improving its messaging platform by launching new media-sharing features. With motion photos, users will soon be able to bring more life to their images, making the conversation more engaging and entertaining.
