WhatsApp is now testing a new feature called Advanced Chat Privacy. This tool will give users more control over their personal chats, especially when dealing with private or sensitive topics.
According to WABetaInfo, Meta is currently testing the feature in the beta version of WhatsApp for iOS through TestFlight.
Moreover, this new privacy update will work for both individual and group chats. With advanced privacy turned on, WhatsApp users will get extra security options not available before.
WhatsApp new privacy features
One of the key features is that these private chats can no longer be exported. This means no one can easily forward or save the messages elsewhere.
Additionally, any media shared in these chats won’t be saved automatically to the phone’s gallery, which helps avoid unintentional leaks. Another major change is that Meta AI, the new artificial intelligence tool in WhatsApp, will not be active in these chats.
Even though WhatsApp already offers disappearing messages, this feature takes things a step further. Advanced Chat Privacy gives people more choice and control over how they handle important conversations.
The feature will be optional and users can turn it on or off for each chat separately. Once enabled, everyone in that chat will be notified.
This update comes just after WhatsApp released another major change for iPhone users. With iOS 18.2 or later, WhatsApp can now be set as the default messaging and calling app on iPhones.
