In an effort to improve users' messaging experience on the platform, WhatsApp is reportedly gearing up to integrate reminder notifications for unseen status updates.
As of now, the instant messaging platform is reportedly offering the new feature to Android users enrolled in WhatsApp’s beta programme.
Before going live with it, the Meta-owned platform was previously testing the feature. That said, it's now available in beta version 2.24.25.29 of WhatsApp for Android.
The remarkable reminding feature comes shortly, a day precisely, after WhatsApp introduced notification reminders for unread messages, according to WABetaInfo.
How to enable status reminders in WhatsApp
Beta testers eager to get their hands on the new WhatsApp feature can seamlessly enable or disable it straight from the "Settings" menu in the app, then tap "Notifications", and then enter the "Reminders" menu.
It should be noted that at the moment the platform has not allowed users to choose contacts of their choice.
Until it is added, WhatsApp's internal algorithm will do the contact selection for users, prioritising the most interacted people from your entire contact list.
The algorithm automatically resets after a user reinstalls WhatsApp since the data is not saved in backups or on the server.
