Meta-owned chat platform WhatsApp is not the first messaging platform to have unveiled status updates, but users using the feature quietly track behind the likes of Instagram and Snapchat.

WhatsApp users have been longing for an upgrade in status uploading on WhatsApp to have a more enhanced experience. Meta’s developers are presently testing revised drawing features which also support status update creation. Given that, a recently surfaced report claims that users can upload longer voice notes in status.

The voice messages feature was in the development stage for a very long time. The speculation was not way off the mark, as WhatsApp launched the feature in February with support for uploading 30-second long voice notes (VNs) on status with the same contact list as that of images, videos, and links on WhatsApp statuses.

WABetaInfo noticed a new feature which offers support for one minute long VNs for status updates. Downloading the updated version of WhatsApp on both Android and iOS, the developers noticed a new change impacting VNs, which was the inclusion of the one minute long VNs.

This update is said to allow sharing longer VNs for 24 hours with the contact list. The publication also underscored that the users will be required to upgrade the app from the Play Store or App Store before they can upload one minute long VNs. The primary objective of this new feature is to allow higher flexibility in sharing events, excluding the need of recording multiple VNs.
