WhatsApp is set to enhance user experience by enabling the sharing of status updates not only on the main platform but also across linked devices.

The Meta-owned messaging service introduced a "companion" mode, allowing users to post status updates from the web version and secondary devices, even when the primary smartphone is offline.

WhatsApp Web's latest beta feature

Beta testers of WhatsApp Web and WhatsApp for Android can already explore the new functionality, which includes the ability to upload status updates on companion devices.

The latest beta version of WhatsApp Web introduces a feature where users can click on a green icon next to their profile photo to post updates from the Status section.

WhatsApp for Android beta users (version 2.24.1.4) can now add status updates directly from their companion devices, expanding the range of features available on these linked devices.

WhatsApp iOS integration in pipeline

The feature is expected to make its way to iOS companion devices, broadening the scope of status updates across various platforms.

WhatsApp is currently testing compatibility with iPad, allowing users in the TestFlight program to install the messaging app on Apple's tablets.

Both Android and iOS beta programs for WhatsApp are currently at full capacity, with no new users being accepted, restricting access to the latest beta updates.
