This situation suits well for WhatsApp users using the service on iPhones, as the Meta-owned messaging platform has announced to stop support for older iPhone models.
Taking effect from June 1, 2025, the messaging app has stopped supporting devices running outdated versions of iOS as part of its efforts to enhance user safety and security.
With technological advancements, online threats and cyberattacks are becoming more potent, and to keep users safe, messaging apps like WhatsApp need to operate on systems that regularly keep up with security updates.
Given that, older iPhone models, which no longer get security updates from Apple, are more susceptible to security vulnerabilities and hacking attacks.
