WhatsApp, the popular instant messaging platform owned by Meta, is improving its video status update feature to allow video clips of up to 90 seconds.
The new WhatsApp update is currently being rolled out to select beta testers, WABetaInfo reported.
Before receiving the feature update supporting longer videos on statuses, the Meta-owned messaging app only let users share 60-second video statuses, a limit that was already an improvement over the initial 30-second restriction offered last year.
The newly raised 90-second limit now eliminates the need to manually trim longer videos into smaller chunks, enabling users to share them in one go.
This video status update is expected to enhance user experience by allowing storytelling in a more detailed manner within a single status update.
Fortunate users who gained early access to the feature acclaimed the update, stating that the longer duration now offers greater freedom of expression.
For the time being, the rollout has been limited, meaning not all beta testers can access it. However, the feature is likely to reach a wider audience once fully launched.
