Instant messaging app, WhatsApp, now allows users to control who can see their profile photo, enhancing security and privacy. By default, your profile picture is visible to all your contacts, but you can now customise the settings to suit your preferences.
With this feature, Meta-owned WhatsApp lets users choose from several options when deciding who can view their profile photo:
- Everyone – Your profile picture is visible to all users, including those outside your contacts.
- My Contacts – Only your saved contacts can see your profile photo.
- My Contacts Except… – You can exclude specific contacts from viewing your profile picture while allowing others to see it.
- Nobody – Your profile photo is hidden from everyone, ensuring maximum privacy.
How to change your profile photo privacy settings
- Open WhatsApp and tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
- Select Settings, then go to Privacy.
- Tap Profile Photo.
- Choose your preferred privacy option.
These settings allow users to control the visibility of their profile photo, protecting their identity and personal information from scammers. This update is particularly useful for those who want to prevent unknown users from misusing their photos.
This new feature marks a significant step in privacy improvements, giving users greater control over their personal data and strengthening privacy protections for all.
