In a significant step towards enhancing user experience, Meta-owned instant messaging platform WhatsApp has rolled out new status-creation tools.

This move is part of the Meta-owned app’s ongoing efforts to elevate the overall experience of the app by bringing strategic updates.

Currently available on the WhatsApp Android 2.25.3.22 update via the Google Play Store, the feature simplifies the process of sharing status updates and improves accessibility to status creation tools.

With the latest update, WhatsApp users can see two additional shortcuts inside the gallery sheet when tapping the floating action button within the “Updates” tab.

The shortcuts will let users seamlessly create text-based updates or share voice messages as status updates, expanding the types of updates which was currently limited to photos and videos.

WhatsApp has also added a shortcut for recording voice messages directly from the status update creation screen.

Previously, the voice status update recording feature was merged with the text-based status update creation feature.

Now that both options will be separated. Voice status updates will be even more visible and accessible without requiring users to select the tab to create text status updates.

The feature is currently available to limited testers via the Google Play Beta programme and is expected to be released to the public soon.
