WhatsApp is introducing a redesigned emoji reactions panel for chats, groups, and channels, making it easier for users to respond to messages. This update is currently being tested by beta users on Android.
According to WABetaInfo, beta testers can access the new emoji reactions panel through the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.6.15 update, available on the Google Play Store. The updated panel improves emoji organisation, simplifying navigation and enhancing usability.
Previously, WhatsApp displayed reactions in a long vertical list, making it difficult for users to browse through them, especially in active channels where reactions appear frequently.
The latest update introduces a compact design that arranges four emoji reactions per row. This change reduces scrolling and makes the selection process smoother.
Additionally, while chats and groups will still feature reactions in a vertical list format with contact names, WhatsApp has updated the tab design for a more modern appearance. This refined layout differentiates how reactions work in different settings.
For channels, where follower identities remain private unless saved in the contact list, reactions will now be displayed in a grid format. In contrast, chats and groups will retain the vertical reaction list, maintaining the visibility of user interactions while adopting a refreshed interface.
WhatsApp’s new emoji reactions panel aims to enhance the messaging experience by making reactions more accessible and visually appealing. The update is expected to roll out to more users in the coming weeks, further refining the app’s functionality.
