WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new notification activity feature within the group chats to manage app notifications more conveniently.
Notification activity feature for WhatsApp group chats
The feature was spotted in the WhatsApp Android beta 2.24.21.22 version, available to some beta testers through the Google Play Beta Programme, revealing a new option to clearly manage the notification activity for group chats.

This new notification feature will allow users to choose between receiving notifications for all group messages or only those that are directly relevant to them.
WhatsApp users can adjust this setting based on their preferences within the new notification activity screen for specific group chats.
The activity section will include two options as follows,
- All: This includes all group messages.
- Relevant to me: including mentions, replies, and other significant notifications.
Additionally, WhatsApp might also use this new notification activity feature to clarify how muting group chats impact notification settings.
WhatsApp notification activity feature availability
Currently, the feature is in the development phase. It is available to some beta testers and WhatsApp is likely to roll it out to the general public shortly.
