WhatsApp is developing a new feature allowing users to access Meta AI directly from their home screens without having to open the app.
The feature was spotted in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.1.27 update on the Google Play Store programme.
Meta AI widget for WhatsApp
According to WABetaInfo, the Meta AI widget will be placed alongside other WhatsApp widgets available, with users having the option to add it to their home screens.
The feature is designed to enhance the convenience and overall user experience of the instant messaging app. Once launched, it will eliminate the need to open WhatsApp and navigate its interface to interact with Meta AI.
Additionally, users will be able to quickly capture and share photos with Meta AI and can also ask the chatbot to assist with tasks such as photo editing, content analysis, or answering queries related to the image.
However, it's worth noting that the Meta AI widget will only be available to users who already have access to AI-powered chats.
This functionality is currently limited to certain regions and specific users, indicating that not everyone will be able to access the widget.
