WhatsApp is developing a new feature that will restrict the number of broadcast messages one can send within a month. The new feature seeks to enhance the way individuals utilise broadcasts and lower spam on the platform.

As per WABetaInfo, a trusted platform for providing WhatsApp updates, the application is developing a new feature that places a monthly limit on broadcast messages.

WhatsApp to limit broadcast messages

With WhatsApp's broadcast feature, users will be able to send a limited number of broadcast messages during a month, 35 currently, but this may differ depending on the type of account, location, or other variables.

The feature is available in beta phase to beta testers of the latest version of WhatsApp beta for Android via the Google Play Store. Enabled users can now view a special broadcast management section within the app settings.

It is to be noted that this section enables them to manage their broadcast lists more easily, without necessarily accessing the overflow menu in the Chats tab.

WhatsApp broadcast messages are a type of one-way message that enables users to send the same message to multiple contacts simultaneously. They are used mainly for announcements, promotions, or alerts.

Misuse of this feature, however, has caused an uptick in spam, which led WhatsApp to institute these restrictions.
