In an effort to refine users’ messaging experience, WhatsApp is releasing a new playback speed control for videos, enabling users to view content more efficiently.

Spotted in the Android beta 2.24.26.20 version, the feature is currently available to limited beta testers via the Google Play Store programme.

Playback speed for WhatsApp videos

According to WABetaInfo, the new playback speed feature will allow users to watch WhatsApp videos at different speeds.

However, to ensure convenient access for users while watching videos, the new playback speed control is located beside the video progress bar.

This button allows users to change speeds swiftly without interrupting their viewing experience.

Additionally, with three playback speed levels available, including normal, 1.5x, and 2.0x, users have the flexibility to choose the speed that best suits their preferences.

This feature can significantly enhance user convenience, particularly for longer videos that might otherwise feel time-consuming to watch at a normal speed, WABetaInfo noted.

By adjusting the playback speed of any video, users can make better use of their time while still enjoying the content.

Moreover, the feature is ideal for users with busy schedules and those who want to watch content more quickly without missing any important details.
