WhatsApp, a Meta-owned platform, has confirmed the launch of a new feature called ’Favourites’ to let you immediately find chats from the people and groups that matter most and directly connect with them over a call from the top of the calls tab.

The “Favourites” filter started to be released on Tuesday and will be available to all WhatsApp users in the coming weeks. It allows you to keep all the chats from your best friend or family group under one roof for quick access.

In addition, WhatsApp has added a “Favourites” section to the calls tab to speed dial your favourite contacts without the need to go through the recent call logs or search their contact from the contacts’ book.

To add a contact or group to your favourite list, select the “Favourites” filter from your chats screen or tap the ‘Add favourite’ option after choosing the specific contact or group from the calls tab. Moreover, you can add a chat to your favourites by long-tapping it and selecting ‘Add to favourite’.

WhatsApp has provided an option to handle your favourite contacts and groups by going to Settings > Favourites > Add to Favourite. You can also rearrange them based on your choice at any time.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp was spotted checking the feature to choose favourite contacts on iOS and the web in February. It also appeared on Android in April.

The Meta-owned app primarily launched “All,” “Unread” and “Groups” as the three filters, but adding “Favourites” makes chat filters even more useful as people depended on alternative methods to immediately call or video chat with their favourite contacts through WhatsApp in the absence of the native filter.
