Google Files, a file management service from Google, makes it easy for users to store important files in specific folders, back them up to Google Drive, and clean up space on their devices.

The app also categorises files as downloads, images, videos, audio, and documents while allowing users to lock any important file behind a secure folder.

Recently, Google is set to introduce some new features to the app that will soon allow you to compress or ZIP files, as revealed by Android Authority.

Although the app already unzips files and folders, a proper feature to ZIP or compress them would further enhance the app's functionality and would make it easier for users to share large files.

Whereas, the pin folders feature will be available as an ‘Add to collection’ option and will enable users to pin any folder on the app’s home page.

In this way, users will gain more flexibility in organising their important folders for easy access. The feature is limited to folders, and individual files can’t be pinned.

Additionally, another minor new design change was revealed i.e. to bring the Collections folder on the top of the app's home screen. Right now, the Categories folder is present at that location while with the new update, Google is swapping both folders.

However, these features are not currently available in the existing version of Google Files and it is still unclear when it might roll out.
