Meta's messaging platform WhatsApp is testing a new privacy feature for iPhone users. The update will restrict users from taking screenshots of other users' profile pictures.

According to WABetaInfo, users attempting to screenshot a profile picture will be met with a message informing them that the action is blocked.

This functionality is designed to curb the unauthorised capture and sharing of profile photos, potentially preventing situations where someone's profile picture is misused or circulated without their consent.

While some might argue that determined individuals could still take pictures of profiles with other devices, blocking the screenshot function directly within WhatsApp is a significant step.

It makes the unauthorised sharing of profile pictures a more deliberate act, potentially giving users more control over their online image.

Looking beyond the iOS update, WhatsApp is also testing a new feature for Android users that caters to convenience. This feature will introduce a "filter" function within the chats tab. With this filter, users will be able to quickly access a list of their favorite contacts, streamlining their messaging experience.
