As the festive occassion of Eidul Fitr closes in, the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates (CBUAE) has introduced a new Dh100 polymer banknote.

The new polymer banknote in the UAE is engraved with enhanced security elements and a design captivating with depictions of the Arab nation’s rich heritage and future ambitions.

“The new 100 dirham banknote reflects our commitment to the leadership’s vision for a sustainable future through initiatives and achievements that support Net Zero and enhance the nation’s financial competitiveness,” said Khaled Mohamed Balama, Governor of the CBUAE.

While the UAE launched the new Dh100 banknotes, in circulation from March 24, ahead of the Eidul Fitr holidays in the country, It's worth mentioning that the old, existing Dh100 banknotes will remain available without any circulation or design changes.

“Its design embodies the country’s ambitious aspirations for future progress and prosperity while honouring its historical and cultural heritage. We are pleased to announce this special issue in conjunction with the Eidul Fitr celebrations,” Balama added.

The launch of the new polymer currency notes in the UAE stems from the Third Issuance of the National Currency Project, an initiative to include the Um Al Quwain National Fort on the front and the Port of Fujairah and Etihad Rail on the rear side of banknotes.

Despite undergoing significant alterations in design and texture, the new banknotes' most significant aspect is that they retain the reddish ton which has been existing on Dh100 notes.
