Meta-owned instant messaging platform WhatsApp, which is the go-to app for millions of users worldwide, has submitted a new update which would allow users to share polls in channels.

According to WABetaInfo, the new feature, which is available to some beta testers — aims to increase channel owners' interactivity with their audience which would help them gather feedback, opinions and preferences directly.

Currently, some beta testers can use the upcoming feature right within their channels. Once rolled out, channel owners will also be able to restrict the answers to a single choice by disabling the multiple answers option.

The news update, when first announced, raised concerns regarding the privacy and confidentiality of poll votes; which was then taken care of by the Meta owners as this feature guarantees protection ensuring that the choices of channel followers remain secure and anonymous during polling.

While all participants could view the total number of votes they wouldn’t get to know who individual answered.

WhatsApp news tracker WABetaInfo claimed that by introducing this feature WhatsApp aims to provide a more private channel experience by prioritising the anonymity of poll voters, establishing a trusted space for followers without worries about their preferences being revealed.

Let's take a look at the new feature:
