Xiaomi is reportedly developing a new flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi 17 Air, to compete directly with Apple’s iPhone Air and Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge.

Weibo Tipster SmartPikachu has leaked information about the brand's upcoming ultra-slim smartphone equipped with a remarkable 200MP camera, eSIM capability, and a 6.6-inch 1.5K display.

The smartphone is being reported to feature flagship-grade specifications that also emphasise a lightweight approach.

If true, it shows that Xiaomi is trying to bring back slim smartphone designs after spending many years on its phone's exterior.

Xiaomi is expected to focus on some battery and electromechanical design improvements, which will lead to a smartphone that is a more viable offering.

Reportedly, the new phone, the Xiaomi 17 Air, will also come with a silicon carbon anode battery marketed as the 7500mAh provided in the 8mm Xiaomi 17 Pro Max.

If Xiaomi can get the new phone battery to about 6mm thickness, it could likely have a strong battery of around 5000mAh, unlike its competitors.

For Pakistan's technology audience, this launch could add further excitement for Xiaomi flagships moving into the future, as Xiaomi has many users in Pakistan, and many times they aggressively price their flagship products.

The rumoured Xiaomi 17 Air could appeal to users seeking premium looks, strong performance, and long battery life at a more competitive price than Apple or Samsung.
