In a major development in Pakistan's circles of ride-hailing services, Yango Pakistan, part of the Yango Group, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Islamabad Capital Territory Police (ICTP) to improve urban safety by integrating ICTP’s public security tools into Yango’s technology platform.
As part of the deal, spanning one year, Yango will incorporate the Smart ICTP app into its safety widget within the Yango Super App, facilitating real-time connections with law enforcement during emergencies.
This collaboration will reportedly raise public awareness and promote the use of the Smart ICTP app and the Taxi Verification App, both developed by ICTP, enabling citizens to access vital safety services.
Miral Sharif, the country head of Yango Pakistan, expressed pride in the partnership, stating, “Through this integration, we’re not just enhancing the rider experience but also empowering communities with access to real-time safety tools backed by law enforcement.”
The initiative includes an Information Campaign to educate citizens on using the Smart ICTP and Taxi Verification apps, which are available free of charge and provide direct access to police support for quicker taxi verification and safer travel.
The MoU marks a significant step towards merging technological innovation with public safety priorities in Pakistan.
The collaboration, with automatic renewal, and requires no financial commitments from either party, reflecting a shared commitment to public good and ethical cooperation.
