YouTube Premium users worldwide woke up to unwelcome news: significant price increases in over a dozen countries. The increases stood at as much as 60% in some countries and 10% in others, causing shockwaves among the subscribers.

The effects of the increases have primarily hit European states, as some of the users of the streaming services faced the maximum increases.

Google attributes this price increment to paying creators and artists more on YouTube and ensuring great service and features.

However, the public is not so sure of this explanation, especially given that it is not the first time the company has increased prices. This explanation has neither removed all fears nor inspired confidence for good service and features.

Social media users expressed outrage as many announced cancellations. One YouTube Premium user commented, "This price increase makes YouTube the most expensive streaming service, topping Amazon Prime, Netflix, and HBO combined." People are frustrated that they are not transparent enough and priced unfairly.

With Netflix, Amazon Prime, and HBO doing the same thing for less, it will eventually worsen YouTube Premium's market position. Users might go to another streaming service and these subscribers and revenue might further dwindle for YouTube..
