YouTube has globally launched a new miniplayer on Android and a redesign of mobile settings to offer a enhanced user experience. The older miniplayer arrived above the bottom bar with the player at the left followed by the video and channel name.

Meanwhile, the updated new design appears more like Android’s picture-in-picture (PiP) window, but with a bar — light or dark theme — at the bottom where play/pause is flanked by 10-second rewind and skip.

How to use new miniplayer on YouTube

You can easily move the new miniplayer to any of the four corners, along with extending the window to take up the full width of your screen by pinching it out. Tap the top-right corner to close. The transition to the system PiP when you close the app is smooth enough.

YouTube's new miniplayer redesign has been widely launched with version 19.41.39 for Android users.

On the other hand, YouTube has redesigned the settings menu with section headers — Account, Video and audio preferences, Help and policy, and Developer preferences — and thin outline-style icons for each item.
