Google is set to launch "YouTube Premium Lite", a new and more affordable addition to its subscription plans in several regions, including Australia, Germany, Thailand, and the United States.

The new tier is designed to target viewers who primarily watch content other than music videos, as reported by Bloomberg.

While the publication didn’t mention the expected pricing of this new tier, it will reportedly focus on ad-free podcasts and how-to videos.

Back in 2021, YouTube tested a no-ads version of Premium Lite in some European countries. However, it appears that the video streaming powerhouse has revamped the concept, with at least one user reporting a new version with limited ads.

While the video-streaming giant has not officially announced pricing details, a user in Australia reportedly saw a price of AUD 8.99 per month for YouTube Premium Lite, significantly lower than the regular Premium price of AUD 16.99.

Moreover, in his statement, YouTube spokesperson Paul Pennington confirmed that the company is testing a new YouTube Premium offering with most videos ad-free.

“We’re hoping to expand this offering to even more users in the future with our partners’ support,” said Pennington, expressing hopes to expand this offering to more users in the future, pending partner support.
