YouTube is testing a new Queue feature for Premium subscribers to improve the video recommendation bar. This feature will suggest videos based on users' viewing habits and place them in the Queue instead of the homepage or recommended bar. It is currently available only on Android devices until April 7.

YouTube Premium, which was first launched as YouTube Red in 2015, offers ad-free videos, background play, and exclusive content. It was rebranded in 2018, adding YouTube Music and other perks.

YouTube’s growing premium features

The new Queue recommendation system aims to make it easier for users to discover content they like. While these suggested videos will appear in the Queue, users will have to manually play or add them. This ensures that recommendations do not autoplay, giving users more control over their experience.

YouTube has been introducing several updates since 2025 began to improve both regular and premium services. One major change is the introduction of YouTube Premium Lite, a cheaper plan that removes ads but does not include YouTube Music or ad-free music videos.

YouTube reducing mid-roll ads

YouTube has also announced changes to its advertising system, reducing mid-roll ads to create a smoother viewing experience. Starting May 12, there will be fewer ads during important moments in videos.
