Zong users across Pakistan have reported major service disruptions, with most complaints pointing to no signal issues.

The complaints caught eyes when Zong users reported about the outage on Downdetector, a website that reports network outages.

Is Zong networks down in Pakistan?

According to the platform's data, around 73% of complaints involved a complete loss of signal, with around 19% of users registering a total blackout, and then 8% complaining about mobile internet issues.

The live outage heatmap on Downdetector showed that the outages were reported from multiple areas, although the biggest clusters of reports appeared in urban areas.

Although Zong has not made a formal announcement yet, the increase in complaints implies that the service disruption has affected millions of customers countrywide.

Some users have vented their frustrations on social media and said they could not make calls or use mobile data for several hours.

It is not yet clear what caused the outages. However, telecom analysts believe that large-scale outages are typically due to technical issues, equipment upgrades or fibre cuts.

It’s worth noting that this is not the first time that telecom operators in Pakistan have experienced widespread outages, and users are increasingly reporting service outages in real time on websites like Downdetector.
