In times of fierce rivalry among major tech giants in the realm of artificial intelligence (AI), the globally famed Chinese e-commerce tycoon Alibaba has publicly released its latest AI model capable of generating images and videos.
The wider rollout of Wan 2.1, Alibaba's new AI model, appears to be a move the company has made to secure a substantial portion of AI's massive user base worldwide, Reuters reported.
Wan 2.1's public rollout follows a similar take by another equally famous AI startup DeepSeek, which earlier this month took the world of AI by storm by launching its low-cost open-source AI models.
T2V-1.3B, T2V-14B, I2V-14B-720P and I2V-14B-480P are the four versions of Alibaba's Wan 2.1, all equipped with the rare capability of producing images and videos over text and image-based commands.
For the unversed, the "14B" stands to signify that the AI model accepts 14 billion parameters. It's worth mentioning that the greater the number of parameters, the more accurate and lifelike results the AI model renders.
All the variants of Wan 2.1 can be accessed from Alibaba Cloud's ModelScope and HuggingFace platforms for academic, research and commercial.
