Amazon has introduced a new AI-powered tool called Buy for Me, a feature that can shop on your behalf even on websites outside of Amazon.

The tool is powered by Amazon Nova AI models and Anthropic’s Claude, making it one of the most advanced AI shopping assistants available today.

With Buy for Me, users can ask Amazon’s AI to visit an external website, pick a product, and complete the purchase by entering the customer’s name, shipping address, and payment details. This saves time and effort for users who often shop across multiple online stores.

One of the AI models supporting this feature may be Nova Act, which Amazon revealed earlier this week. This agent is capable of browsing and using websites independently, making decisions like a human shopper.

Moreover, that sets Amazon’s system apart from rivals like OpenAI, Google, and Perplexity is its secure use of encryption. This ensures that Amazon itself cannot see or store your credit card or order details when purchases are made outside its own platform.

Other AI agents in the market either require users to enter payment details manually or rely on prepaid cards. Amazon’s approach offers a smoother and more secure experience.

However, using AI for purchases raises questions about trust. If the AI misinterprets a request, it might place the wrong order, such as buying 1,000 items instead of 10. If something goes wrong, users are directed to the original seller’s website for returns or changes.
