The OpenAI rival AI startup Anthropic is set to release its new major artificial intelligence (AI) model with reasoning capabilities in the upcoming weeks.
This development comes a few days after OpenAI launched the o3-mini, the company’s most cost-efficient reasoning AI model.
As per a report by The Information, the company has described its upcoming AI model as a “hybrid” one which can switch between “deep reasoning” and fast responses.
“We’re generally focused on trying to make our own take on reasoning models that are better differentiated,” Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei noted in a recent interview.
Alongside the new model, Anthropic AI will also introduce a “sliding scale” which will grant developers more control over the cost of using an AI model by enabling them to control the amount of computational resources as the deep reasoning capabilities consume more computing.
Compared to previous versions, Anthropic's new model excels at handling complex tasks. Moreover, the model is reportedly exceptional at analysing complex codebases and performing well on various business-related benchmarks.
According to the report, the AI model also uses computational resources to answer difficult questions and can act like a traditional large language model (LLM) to handle simple questions.
