Apple Music expands artist analytics with radio spins data

You can now view when and where your artists’ music is being played on over 40,000 radio stations

Apple is set to launch a new feature on its Apple Music app for artists' platforms soon. The company said that artists can now view “when and where” their music is being played on radio stations globally.

Apple on the iTunes Connect website said, “In your label view of Apple Music for Artists, you can now view when and where your artists’ music is being played on over 40,000 radio stations from more than 200 countries and regions globally. Moreover, The Cupertino-based tech giant, Apple noticed that it provides a “premium radio spins experience” through its Apple Music Partner Program.

This display “deeper, more expanded radio insights,” involving spin data across countries by market, daypart, station, artist song, and more. Artists can also create “custom airplay reports.”

Categories of music performance analytics

  1. Listening Now: Number of fans initiating music plays (excludes offline plays).
  2. Plays: Songs played for over 30 seconds on Apple Music, including radio stations.
  3. Average Daily Listeners: Average number of unique daily listeners.
  4. Purchases: Songs or albums bought on iTunes.
  5. Shazams: Recognitions by the Shazam app or partner apps.
  6. Radio Spins: Songs played on 40,000+ terrestrial and digital radio stations (excluding Apple Music Radio).
  7. Video Views: Music videos watched for over 30 seconds.

The partner offers performance data for all music where the artist is being listed as primary analytics cover

  1. Songs: Total plays, including all album and compilation versions.
  2. Albums: Any album, Extended Play (EP), or single.
  3. Playlists: Apple Music editorial playlists.
  4. Videos: Music videos uploaded to Apple Music.

Multiple versions of music are aggregated into single-track groupings, represented by one album or single cover art.
