Apple Watch sales are performing stronger than expected in 2025, and the momentum could set the stage for one of the most exciting upgrades in recent years.

According to a new report from DigiTimes Asia, Apple Watch shipments in the first half of 2025 came in approximately 10% above forecasts, giving Apple a strong position ahead of the launch of the Apple Watch Series 11 this fall.

Despite global challenges such as tariffs and slower consumer electronics demand, the supply chain notes that Apple’s early procurement has been about 10% higher than projected. Analysts believe this positions the Apple Watch Series 11 lineup, including the Apple Watch Ultra 3, for solid third-quarter sales.

The most anticipated upgrade is a blood pressure detection feature, which may debut with Series 11. While it won’t provide full readings at first, it is expected to track trends and alert users about potential abnormalities, similar to Apple’s existing temperature sensor.

However, more advanced features like non-invasive blood glucose monitoring remain out of reach for now due to technological and regulatory hurdles.

Looking further ahead, the 2026 Apple Watch lineup could bring even bigger changes. Supply chain sources claim next year’s models will focus on three areas: doubling the number of sensors, introducing exterior design changes, and improving power efficiency. The additional sensors are expected to reduce reliance on algorithms, improving both accuracy and battery life.

While rumours of a major redesign continue, the circular sensor array on the back of the Apple Watch is expected to remain, even with the added sensors.
