ChatGPT restored after server overload disrupted services globally

Following an hours-long disruption that left users struggling to access services through the mobile app and website, the ChatGPT outage has been resolved.

Unable to access the chatbot for several hours, thousands of ChatGPT users were faced with service downtime on Thursday morning.

Citing Downdetector, an outage tracking website, The News York Times reported a surge in downtime reports kicked in after 6:00am.

It was also reported that error messages popped up instead of the usual interface when users attempted to access the chatbot.

Is ChatGPT outage resolved?

While the magnitude of the outage was worse for Eastern users encountering "elevated error rates," the company announced that the issue was resolved.

Despite OpenAI's proclaimed reinstatement, reports of the outage kept emerging till 8:12am when the company acknowledged and reported catching another problem.

Fortunately, the second wave of the outage was eliminated by the company after 10:00am, bringing ChatGPT back its stable state.
