In a move which took the world of technology by storm, renowned Chinese artificial intelligence (AI) assistant DeepSeek reportedly suffered large-scale cyberattacks on Monday.

The slew of these cyber attacks on DeepSeek's services came on the heels of the China-owned AI tool, which caused a stir in the landscape of AI and shed over $1 trillion from the US stock market.

To the dismay of OpenAI, the recently launched tool surpassed ChatGPT in terms of the number of downloads on Apple's App Store on Monday.

Citing the company, Reuters reported that the reason behind the widespread DeepSeek outage was “large-scale malicious attacks.”

Following the administration of cyberattacks on a number of its services including the website's user interface and login page, the company announced to temporarily limit newcomers' registration on the platform.

The publication also attributed the restricted registrations to the overwhelming number of new users hopping on the new AI tool.

Later in the day, the status page on the company's website indicated that issues involving the application programming interface and users' inability to log in to the website were resolved.
