As part of its Safe City Project designed to help minimise accidents and ensure better traffic flow, the Punjab government has launched the e-challan system in Bahawalpur.

The digital challan system is said to be designed to enhance traffic control and compel riders and drivers to abide by traffic rules and regulations in the city.

With the e-challan system now operational, traffic violators in Bahawalpur will receive electronic tickets for infractions such as speeding, running red lights, or illegal parking.

Unlike traditional paper-based tickets, these digital challans are fully automated, capturing violations in real-time through advanced surveillance technology.

After detecting a violation, the system generates a challan and sends the fine amount and payment instructions to the offender via SMS, email, or an online portal.

The same cameras can identify suspicious behaviour, aiding law enforcement in responding swiftly to potential criminal activity.

The launch of the e-challan system in Bahawalpur reflects the government’s commitment to smart governance, integrating technology into public service to create safer, more organised cities.

Public cooperation is essential for the system's countrywide installation and future success, with online payment options available for timely fine payments.
