In a bid to make it easier for citizens to check and track e-challans for traffic violations, the Karachi Traffic Police has launched a new mobile app called "Tracks Citizen".
The app is available for both Android and iPhone, allowing citizens to access information related to their vehicles and any traffic violations they may have incurred.
It requires users to log in with their ID card, and once logged in, all vehicles registered under the given CNIC will automatically appear in the app.
The most notable feature of Tracks Citizens is the ability to receive immediate notifications about traffic rule violations, delivered in two parts: a warning and an e-ticket (e-challan).
Karachi's new e-challan system reportedly generated over Rs12.5 million in fines only within six hours following its launch, issuing 2,662 tickets over traffic violations. Violations included 419 cases of overspeeding, 1,535 for not wearing seatbelts, and 507 for riding without helmets, among others.
DIG Traffic Syed Pir Muhammad Shah praised the e-challan system as a significant advancement in the enforcement of traffic laws and road safety enhancement in Karachi.
Shah stressed the importance of continuous technical upgrades to improve the system's accuracy and efficiency. Urging citizens to cooperate with traffic authorities and adhere to traffic laws, he highlighted that public compliance is crucial for smoother traffic flow and reducing road accidents in the city.
The newly launched e-challan system in Karachi marks a major step toward ensuring responsible driving and effective traffic monitoring in Karachi.
