Part of the incumbent government's push for digitisation, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) has launched a new biometric verification system for vehicle registration and ownership transfer, aimed at enhancing security and transparency.
This initiative was introduced by the Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control Department in collaboration with NADRA, and all vehicle owners in the province will be required to undergo biometric verification during new registrations or ownership transfers.
The biometric verification system is slated to take effect from November 2025, aiming to verify the identities of buyers and sellers to reduce the risks of fraud, fake ownership, and illegal transfers.
The KPK government has urged citizens to complete the biometric process at the earliest to avoid future inconveniences.
Citing government officials, PhoneWorld noted that this step is part of a larger plan to modernise public services by leveraging digital technology.
The new system is expected to improve public trust, cement record accuracy, and ensure that vehicle transactions are conducted in a safe manner.
Besides, the Excise Department outlined that this initiative will help curb illegal activities and streamline the vehicle registration process while making it faster and more efficient.
To complete biometric verifications for vehicle registration or ownership transfer, KPK residents are encouraged to visit their nearest Excise and Taxation Office ahead of the mandatory deadline.
