
Industry participants are being asked to comply with investigations led by the European Antitrust Commission into whether Google’s multi-year generative artificial intelligence (AI) deal with Samsung hinders rival chatbots on Samsung devices, Reuters reported.
The commission said it sent requests to collect more information about whether Google’s deal to embed Gemini AI into Samsung’s S24 series violates any regulations.
The move would be potentially helpful for the anti-trust commission to build a case against the companies if they’re found to violate any Trust laws.

The questions relate to the matter of whether Gemini’s pre-installation on Samsung devices limits the amount of other generative AI models to be pre-installed.
Another worrying anticipation is that Gemini’s integration may limit interoperability between other chatbots and apps pre-installed on Samsung devices.
Respondents have been asked to recall any instance of a failed deal with device manufacturers along with the reasons for the failure, they have until this week to respond.
