In line with the rapid adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in Pakistan, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has disclosed plans to set up EV charging stations across the city.
The installation of EV charging stations in Karachi marks a bold step towards eco-friendly transport, leading to sustainable urban living.
In a meeting, Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab at the KMC Head Office directed departments to begin installing EV chargers in major areas, while officials reflected on sustainable mobility solutions.
EV charging stations' locations in Karachi
Phase one of the establishment of EV charging infrastructure in the city will involve EV charging stations built along major city routes, including Shahrah-e-Faisal, Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road, and Stadium Road. These locations were picked for their high traffic and accessibility.
Wahab emphasised that by making EV charging convenient and accessible, Karachi could lead the way in clean transport solutions.
KMC will provide land and funding to fast-track the launch of Karachi's much-awaited EV charging stations, with construction starting immediately.
The initiative is in line with Karachi’s broader vision of transforming into a modern, eco-friendly metropolis, where technology and sustainability go hand in hand.
