In a strategic expansion move, Flyadeal, Saudi Arabia’s low-cost airline, has announced direct operations to Pakistan with inaugural flights to Islamabad and Peshawar.

Jeddah-based Flyadeal revealed that with inaugural flights to Islamabad and Peshawar, the company aims to bring budget-friendly travel options for Pakistani and Saudi passengers.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Islamabad International Airport COO Aftab Gilani shared a video of a Flyadeal flight landing at the airport and receiving a traditional water salute. Gilani stated: “Welcome to Saudi low-cost Airline, Flyadeal, at Islamabad International Airport. #FlyAdeal’s A320 neo was given a water salute by the RFF Services of Pakistan Airports Authority at Islamabad Int Airport upon its inaugural arrival flight from Riyadh.”

The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) stated: “Flyadeal will now operate two weekly flights from Riyadh to Peshawar every Monday and Wednesday.”

On the other hand, the airline will operate a weekly flight to Islamabad on Sundays. The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) said: “The new services to Peshawar and Islamabad will strengthen connectivity, facilitate passenger convenience, and further boost ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.”

The airline is targeting the growing Pakistani diaspora in Riyadh and travellers seeking affordability and convenience.

It is worth noting that Flyadeal’s move to expand operations to Pakistan comes as Saudi Arabia seeks to boost its tourism sector under the Vision 2030 programme, which aims to attract over 150 million domestic and international tourists annually.
