Meta-owned instant messaging app, WhatsApp, is working on a fix for the issue that prevented users from starting the camera.

WABetaInfo — WhatsApp news tracker — reported that some users were unable to start the camera. When users wanted to use the camera by tapping the floating action button within the chats and the updates tab, they encountered an error message asking them to restart the device.

“According to user reports, it appears that this issue also occurs when trying to start the camera within a conversation,” WABetaInfo reported, adding that the issue worried the beta testers.

A new bug fix update was needed as restarting the device constantly didn’t resolve the issue.

“The issue was present with the recent update, and since some users have the auto-update option enabled, they might have received this version automatically, causing them to experience difficulties in starting the camera,” it added.

“While we discovered a new file-sharing feature with people nearby with the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.2.20 update from the Google Play Store, we noticed that it is also a bug-fix update that finally addresses the camera issue.”

Once the fix is available users can finally start the camera and share photos and videos with their contacts without experiencing this issue.

It should be noted that the fix will be available after users install the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.2.20 update from the Google Play Store.
