Google has announced to integrate of an experimental artificial intelligence (AI) model into the Gemini app which allows for more complex reasoning and explanation capabilities.
The new feature, called Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking, is part of a broader rollout of Gemini 2.0 AI models, including the flagship Gemini 2.0 Pro.
This update is expected to compete with other reasoning AI models, such as OpenAI's o1 and DeepSeek's R1.
Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking
Google’s Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking utilises a unique approach to problem-solving, breaking down complex questions into manageable steps to provide more accurate and reliable results.
In addition to Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking, Google is also releasing an experimental version of Gemini 2.0 Pro, which promises better factuality and stronger performance for coding and mathematics-related problems.
The AI model will be exclusive to the Advanced Gemini app users and those with access to Vertex AI and AI Studio.
Gemini 2.0 Flash-Lite
The tech giant has also introduced a new low-cost model called Gemini 2.0 Flash-Lite, which offers improved performance and speed at an affordable price.
Furthermore, Google has made Gemini 2.0 Flash, its high-efficiency AI model, generally available to developers in AI Studio and Vertex AI.
All these updates demonstrate Google's significant investment in AI research and development, with plans to spend $75 billion on growing its AI model family this year.
