Google has introduced a new feature for its app beta users on Android, allowing them to choose between different Gemini models. The latest Gemini 2.0 Flash model is now available for testing on Android, giving users more control over their AI experience on their smartphones.

The Google app v15.49.42 beta adds support for choosing a specific Gemini version for your queries. This setting was already available on the web version of Gemini Advanced after the announcement of Gemini 2.0 Flash last week, and the feature is now making its way to the Android app.
Users can change the Gemini model by clicking on the header area where the current model name is shown.
Users can choose from the following models, each with its own set of pros and cons:
- Gemini 1.5 Pro: For complex tasks.
- Gemini 1.5 Flash: For everyday tasks where execution speed is equally important.
- Gemini 2.0 Flash Experimental: The latest model available for testing.
How to use Gemini 2.20 Flash model
To try out the new Gemini 2.0 Flash model, follow these steps:
- Update to Google app v15.49.42 beta or later.
- Open the Google app on your Android device.
- Click on the header area where the current Gemini model name is shown.
- Select the desired Gemini model from the list.
This new feature provides users with more control over their AI experience, allowing them to choose the best model for their needs. Even though the Gemini 2.0 Flash Experimental model is available for testing, users may prefer the 1.5 Flash for everyday queries and the 1.5 Pro for deeper research tasks.
