Google Home is a smart home management system that allows users to control their devices, access information and manage their home with ease. Its latest update brings an exciting new feature — the Favourites Widget. 

This widget is available in public preview and allows users to access their favourite tools and actions right from the home screen. With this new Favourites widget, users can customise their home screen with their most used devices and actions. 

What is 'Favourites' widget?

The new update Favourites Widget is a customisable widget that allows users to add their favourite tools and actions. They can choose from various devices, such as lights, plugs and blinds, as well as actions such as Assistant, Broadcaster, and Call Home.

The widget refreshes every 30 minutes, ensuring that users have access to up-to-date information. 

How to get the Favourites Widget?

To get favourite widgets, users need to sign up for the Google Home public preview program. Once enrolled, they can update their Google Home app to version 3.18 and access the new widgets. 

Users can customise the widget for their links, choosing different sizes and configurations. They can also edit the widget to add or remove tools and actions. The widget allows users to control their devices with a simple tap, making it easy to manage their smart home. 

Google Home prioritises security and authentication, keeping the user's home safe and under their control. Sensitive actions, such as opening the smart lock or viewing the camera, require additional authentication steps.
