Google Play Store is gearing up to introduce a Download Manager feature, enhancing user experience and addressing a long-standing issue. With over 2.7 million apps available, users often struggle to keep track of recently installed apps.
What’s new in Play Store?
The seamless download and installation process on the Play Store can be both a blessing and a curse. However, the convenience it offers ensures that users don't forget the apps they are installing, as some paused downloads are left unattended.
The Download Manager feature would deal with this problem, providing users with an organised list of downloaded apps and simplifying the overall process of app discovery.
Play Store's Download Manager
Activation of the feature in version 43.2.16-29 revealed a simplified list of apps currently downloading and recently installed on the device but haven't been opened yet.

An app would exit the list once opened. This would especially be helpful to users who download dozens of apps in one sitting in the initial device setup and again when trying a new genre.
Features to expect on Play Store's Download Manager
The pause/resume download feature does not form part of the current implementation. However, this can become quite an appreciated feature by users, especially those who depend on metered connections.
Other such as downloading times, auto-update, and file management can also enhance Download Manager further.
This feature has not been officially confirmed by Google. Its release status remains uncertain, and it may or may not be released in the future. Google hasn't shared anything about its existence, and we'll update this article when we learn more.
