
Leaving your cell phone on charging overnight is not the best practice for your phones in fact it harms your phone’s battery by reducing its battery life. It is because continuous power is being given to the battery resulting in damage, and can’t be avoided as not all phones have adaptive charging feature.
However, some phones including Pixel series have adaptive charging feature that turns on between certain hours if bedtime is set for the phone.
Samsung Galaxy offers built-in adaptive charging in its devices to prevent this damage to phone’s battery. There are three options i.e. Basic, Adaptive and Maximum.

In Basic mode your phone will get charge up to 100% and then stop. Adaptive mode works when you have to sleep and have set an alarm according to it. It slows down charging before getting up to 100% until the time your alarm is set. Meanwhile Maximum mode will stop your phone from charging past 80% and is an extreme form of battery protection.
Steps to enable battery protection on Galaxy phones
- Open Settings on your Galaxy device
- Tap Battery and click on Battery Protection.
- Turn it on.
- Now choose a protection method according to your need.
In this way battery protection is enabled. It can be a great tool for Galaxy users looking to prolong battery life.
