Windows is a proficient operating system, but many users reported that their Windows laptop is not shut down properly.

One way the users can identify a traditional "slow startup" is if their laptops take longer to restart than they take to perform a cold boot when turning on.

According to a step-by-step guide posted on Instagram by @tech_iela, users should follow the below-mentioned instructions if they wish to know whether their laptop is properly shut.

  • Open Task Manager and check CPU up time to verify PC activity duration.
  • Go to Control Panel and search for power settings.
  • Click on the first option and navigate to change settings.
  • Untick Fast Setup to adjust power settings.
  • Save changes to ensure correct shutdown behaviour.

Notably, if a user prefers to keep fast start-up turned on, then restarting the laptop manually will still fully refresh the same as a full shutdown would.
