WhatsApp offers numerous features to help users stay connected with their friends and family. In 2021, the platform introduced support for linked devices, enabling users to access the app across multiple devices simultaneously.
However, there was a limitation that only one phone could be connected to a single WhatsApp account. This restriction was lifted with the introduction of Companion mode in April 2023 which allows users to link up to four additional devices, including phones, to their primary WhatsApp account.
Gadinsider has brought you a step-by-step guide on how to use the same WhatsApp number on two smartphones.
How to use same WhatsApp number on two mobiles?
- Open WhatsApp on your primary device.
- Now, tap on the three dots present in the top-right corner of the screen.
- From the menu, select the Linked Devices option.
- Once you’re in the Linked Devices section, tap the option to Link a Device. This will activate your QR code scanner.
- Then, open WhatsApp on your other phone.
- Notably, if the secondary phone uses a different number, it will prompt to log in with that number. For that, tap the three dots in the top-right corner of the secondary phone’s screen and select the option Link as a Companion Device.
- On the secondary phone, a QR code will appear.
- Use the QR scanner on your primary phone to scan this code. Once the scan is successful, your WhatsApp chats will begin loading, and you’ll be able to view your conversations on both phones.
