Humanoid AI robot in China goes after crowd due to unknown failure

In a shocking turn of events in China, a humanoid robot powered by artificial intelligence (AI) reportedly began moving peculiarly in an attempt to chase festival-goers.

The incident took place when a group of AI robots were performing at a festival and one of them started to head towards the public, prompting security personnel to step in.

Citing a video making rounds on the internet, The Express Tribune reported that while guards had to intervene and take the robots in control, the incident has drawn public backlash and controversies surrounding the safety and credibility of trusting robots.

As internet users attempted to figure out what the bot was certainly doing, it is yet to be verified whether the bot was attacking festival attendees or simply tumbled because of some hindrance.

The incident was described as a “simple robot failure” by the event organisers, conceding an unexpected technical malfunction which led to concerns about AI reliability.

This acknowledgement comes as authorities confirmed that the robot underwent safety tests ahead of the event and, assuring that such measures will be taken in future events to eliminate the possibility of such occurrences.
